Here is an official remix for a dope Montreal disco band called Creature. It was commissioned by the label, but I realized that know a couple of the band members from back in the day in mtl. I had the pleasure of playing a show with them in September '11 and trust - they rock it - a very charming performance with kids in the crowd just losin it.

Nelson Dedos Garcia - Concept Artist / Illustrator / Painter/ Muralist / 2D Animator / Logo designer / Children's Book Illustrator /

Trained as a classical animator, Nelson has spent the last decade working in the video game development field in Vancouver. Over the years he has fulfilled a number of different artistic rolls while working on video game projects for clients such as , Nintendo, Electronic Arts, DEF JAM, and EMI Entertainment.

During the early 90's, Nelson "Dedos" Garcia was a core member of an infamous graffiti muralist crew: "AA CREW"; as well as a powerful Bboy crew: " Contents Under Pressure" and a founding member of the hip hop group the " RASCALZ " that shook up Canadian music industry .

Dedos is not only recognized as one of the graffiti/b-boy pioneers in Canada but he is also a Juno Award winner for his album artwork for musician "K-OS". Early on Dedos came to the realization that his creative passion could not be contained to just one outlet or genre so in addition to showing in galleries he is a seasoned muralist, 2-animator, comic artist, illustrator, concept artist...... His clientele include K-OS, K-naan, Avril Lavigne, MTV, Cartoon network, Nintendo, and so on....

More recently, he pushes the name of his own company "NOMADIC ALTERNATIVES productions" with his wife Xochitl, together they aspire to create an abundance of great things and travel the world with their 3 children, dog and cat.

Been a minute since i posted up in here. When i say a minute, i actually mean over a year! Wow! If you know me well, you'll know I'm awful at posting stuff online. "Gangsta Muzik reworks The Diplomts' "Dipset Anthem" in a uk funky/b-more-inspired framework with big kicks, marching drums, a wobbly bassline, and chopped up vocals creating a strictly-for-the-club heater. "Splash" is a house remix of Ludacris' "Splash Waterfalls," with smoothly bumping drums, funky chops, and the best parts of the original left intact. Definitely useful stuff to have in your crates if you're a working dj!

Vancouver hip hop community fundraises to help 'Father of Hip Hop'... Kool!

Vancouver, B.C. -When Jheric Hizon, a member of the local Bboy crew Now or Never found out that New York's DJ Kool Herc was hospitalized and in need of some financial assistance to pay his medical bills, he immediately contacted some fellow hip-hop heads to host a fundraiser.

The Big Payback fundraiser (named after a classic track by EPMD, a duo also considered among the pioneers of hip hop) will be held at W2 Storyeum, 151 W. Cordova St, in Vancouver, B.C., on April 10, 2011.This will be an all-ages event from 2-7 p.m. that will feature all the elements of hip hop: Bboying/Bgirling, MCing, DJing and graf writing. A $10 minimum donation will be collected at the door, with all proceeds set to be donated to the Kool Herc Fund. More info on the fund can be found at www.djkoolherc.com

Thankfully, Kool Herc is out of the hospital. However, Hizon says “the Vancouver hip hop community would still like to pay tribute to Kool Herc and the other hip-hop pioneers that paved the way for what we do today.” And although The Big Payback was inspired by Kool Herc's unfortunate situation, organizers say should the need to raise funds for another pioneer occur again, this might not be the last you see of The Big Payback! That's how much the local community recognizes how indebted they are to their East Coast forebears.

Hello boys & girls. it's that time again! *Stars & Muscles 9* is happening this saturday and of course, we're back with another funky mix, compiled and mixed proper by your hunky hosts. We dedicate this one to all our regulars who love to dance & sweat with us all night long. As y'all know - S&M is about the classics: funk, disco, house, etc. we love playing them in our sets that we made this lil mix with 80's house, to hip-house, acid and all that good schitt.

Diamond D is gonna be in town tommorow (For more info click here) so I figured that this was a great opportunity to put out a mix to follow up on my Rakim one. As I was organizing the songs I was gonna use I realized that there was no way I could fit everything into an hour so I incorporated different snippets of Diamond D beats spread out through the whole mix. Hopefully you like it.

Many people probably dont know, but when i was younger i used to learn everything about pop/youth culture from my older brother James aka Dj Jamez. When he bought a guitar, i bought a bass. When he bought a pullover jacket, i bought one too! Etc, Etc, Etc... So after we bought tuntables in 1994 i would also get advice on what records to buy. We would then go downstairs in my parents basement, smoke weed, and mix records for hours every single night. We'd also record mixtapes for our friends, with no pre-planning or discussion, just press record and go...

As technology has advanced and my own responsibilities have increased, this old practice has disappeared from my everyday life, and with it a piece of my upbringing has as well. So i've decided to pay an homage to my roots as a dj and start putting out more "Live Bassment Mixes" over the next few months. It's something ive been meaning to do for a while but havent gotten around to doing it...until now.

This mix represents a sound from 90's House Music that sounds as good as today as it ever did back then. With all the pitch-bending, wobbly lfo's, and car alarm House tracks coming out these days, it really makes this sound standout. Infectious vocals, beautiful rhodes, and piano stabs are the theme. Not all these songs are from that exact era, but they all embody the sound.

So this mix (live on 2 turntables, no effects, no re-dos) is dedicated to the man who got me started djing in the first place - my older brother James.

The Screams Of Passion (Illo Edit)

Although this is credited to being written by David Z, Clare Fischer & The Family, we all know damn well it was Prince who created this little gem. The original is a little slower and alot more romantic, but i feel i still kept the integrity of the original. Some new drums, a quicker tempo, as well as a proper intro and outro.

Sanctified Lady {DJ Pump Re-Edit}

Marvin's Sancitified Lady was originally "Sanctified Pussy" or "Sanctified Bitch" that was featured on Dream of A Lifetime album which was released after his death in 1984. A great tune, I love the synthesized groove, its too damn funky and i like how he mumbles during certain parts. You can actually hear him curse ~ "Some girls F*ck, Some dont care" .. Also if you listen carefully you can still hear the "p" word slips out a few times, but the song insists that he wants no part of a promiscuous woman, but a good church girl who won't give him herpes...amen.

"She said I'm saving mine for Jesus!" .. RIP Marvin.
